  1. 一個人的能力是培養出來的,要發揮自己的功能,人生才有價值。

One’s ability comes from cultivation, and one’s life value comes from the exertion of one’s ability.


  1. 人不可停頓在自我滿足之處,要不斷的學習,不斷的求進步,才會使自 己的人格昇華。

Don’t be self-satisfied. Only continuous learning and progressing can refine one’s character.


  1. 能夠發覺自己的錯誤,是有智慧的人﹔勇於改過,就是大丈夫。

A wise man can find his mistakes; a great man is willing to correct his mistakes.


  1. 殘而不廢的人,能夠發揮身體僅有的功能過生活,甚至利益他人,



A crippled but not disabled person can lead a meaningful life by

making the best use of his body and even benefitting others;

an un-crippled but disabled person may lead a most meaningless life by being lazy and slack.


  1. 不要輕易對他人的一句話下判斷,認為別人都對我不好,


Judge not other’s words, thinking that they maltreat us and go against us.

Only deep understanding and communication can avoid wronging people.


  1. 世間任何問題,都是人的問題;人的問題就是心的問題。



All problems are man’s problems which in turn are mind’s problems.

Therefore, if mind’s problems are solved, all problems will be solved.

This is what is said, “If one wants to purify the land, one must purify mind first.

When mind is purified, the land will be purified.”


  1. 有智慧者,不論有人在身邊督促與否,都能認真做事,


A man of wisdom can work hard with gratitude no matter whether others are supervising him or not.

On the contrary, a man of no wisdom is lazy and always plays sneaky tricks.


  1. 自心的檢視-要時時刻刻反省自己:有沒有怠於職責。



The way of self-examination: Examine ourselves at all times:

Are we negligent of our duties?

Do we do nothing but ask others do for us and even take credit?

Do we make excuse for our laziness and escape our duties by saying that we are too busy or too tired?


  1. 把我執煩惱去除,慈悲心自然能夠發揮出來。

Ridding egoism will generate compassion naturally.


  1. 一切思想、語言、行為,都從慈悲心出發,就不會增加別人的困擾與


If our thoughts, words, and behaviors are all based on compassion, we won’t trouble and torment other people.

Though being an upright man is really hard, it will not be hard if our heart is full of compassion.


  1. 我們能夠修福報,是對方給與的機會,所以要感激對方;


We should be grateful to others when they give us the chance to cultivate our merits;

we should also be grateful to others when they criticize us because they are eliminating our negative karma.


  1. 「一切唯心造」,人生的一切,都是以心為本,所以要改造人生,必須從改變自己的心下手。

All are made by mind. Everything in our life is based on our mind.

Therefore, if you want to reform your life, you have to change your mind first.


  1. 「無常」一直都在追逐我們走向人生的盡頭。


Impermanence is always chasing us to the end of life.

Therefore, we should keep learning and practicing Dharma at all times, and do not be slack and relaxed.


  1. 能痛切的了解人生苦,就能放下一切,真正發道心,用功修行。

When we truly understand the sufferings of life,

we will let go of everything, generate honestly the mind of enlightenment, and practice Buddha Dharma diligently.


  1. 物質的享受,不是人生究竟的快樂,


The material enjoyment is not the ultimate happiness of life.

Liberation through dharma practice is the ultimate fortune of life.


  1. 能夠真正了解無常、無我、一切皆空,就不會斤斤計較,


The true understanding of impermanence, non-self and emptiness will make us no more

narrow-minded and live a free and happy life.


  1. 體會「緣起性空」的道理而度眾生,才不會著眾生相,


When we teach the sentient beings with the realization of “Inter-dependent Origination and

Emptiness of Self-nature”, we won’t cling to the form of sentient beings,

and exaggerate petty things as very big to cause unnecessary vexation and dispute.


  1. 佛心平等,普照一切眾生,但眾生心如果不清淨,



Buddha has equal mind and takes care of all sentient beings equally.

But if one’s mind is not purified, one cannot get the caring and compassion of the Buddha.

This is not because of the partialism of the Buddha but because of the handicap of one’s vexation.




Honesty is the most precious character. No one can get it with money, fame, status, and power.






What is non-self? Nothing, including our bodies and external materials, can be dominated and changed by us.

If we can experience and understand that the world is impermanent and of non-self,

then our greed will disappear and our mind will become pure.

With pure mind, we will generate the heart of Bodhisattva and compassion to care for sentient beings.



如何達到內心究竟的平靜?如果能深刻的體會「諸行無常」、「諸法無  我」,


What is nirvana? It is the ultimate peace of mind. How can we achieve the ultimate peace of mind?

If we can have a profound understanding of the impermanence of all conditioned things,

and the non-selfness of all things, we can see the insubstantiality of all,

and thus forsake all discriminations to produce the ultimate peace of mind.




The practice of Buddha Dharma aims to attain liberation which needs the reduction of vexation,

attachment, and bondage. How much the attachment is reduced, how much the liberation is attained.


  1. 修行要以慈悲為本,方便為門。

Spiritual practice should be based on compassion, and obtained through skillful means.


  1. 佛教是人類生活的指南,給予人生正確的目標。學佛修行者,


Buddhism is the guide of human life, and gives people the right goal of life.

A Buddhist should grasp the direction of life and promote the value of life when receiving the Buddhist education.


  1. 社會上的人,我執、我所有執的煩惱深重,所以只會追求物欲的享


Ordinary people have very heavy attachment to “me” and “mine” so that they look for material enjoyment only.

Buddhist teaching of impermanence and non-self aims to break through the attachment.


  1. 該是你的,永遠也跑不掉;不是你的,永遠也得不到。



What are yours will never run away; what are not yours will never be got.

All encounters in life are determined by one’s karma.

Therefore, never ask for things that are not yours,

but believe in the principle of cause and effect so that you may feel at ease and justified.


  1. 人若不滿足,心就不安,就享受不到得來不易的成果。

Dis-satisfaction brings no peace and no enjoyment of the achievement of hard work.


  1. 品德修養,是自我反省,而不是批評他人。

Spiritual cultivation is to reflect on oneself, not to criticize others.


  1. 健康的秘訣:一、放得下,減少煩惱;二、多運動,減少病痛;三、多磨練,增長耐力。

The secrets for good health: First, letting go of attachment to lessen vexation; second,

more exercise to lessen illness; third, more tests to increase endurance.


  1. 不愛惜世間的物質、資源,就是捨福,就沒有福報,也就會發生災難痛苦。

Not cherishing material resources is the abandonment of blessings which will bring disasters but no happiness.


  1. 人類所有的人我是非,都是從自己的分別心而來,如果能夠去掉分別心,則能轉物,即同如來。

People’s conflicts come from the discriminating mind. No discriminating mind brings liberation like the Tathāgata.


  1. 是一條生命,就該珍惜;想得到健康、長壽,就得多活動。

Every life, no matter how small it is, should be cherished. Do more exercises to achieve good health and long life.


  1. 窮通得失,都是自己前因所得之果,何必羨慕他人的榮華、富貴,更莫不擇手段,苦苦追求。

To become poor or prosperous, to gain or lose are the result of one’s past action.

Why to envy other’s wealth and high ranking? Be sure not to pursue what you want by hook or by crook.


  1. 是非來時,先客觀、虛心的自我反省;若發覺自己有錯,應該感謝對方;若沒有錯,就把它放下。

In face of conflicts, be objective and humble to examine ourselves. If we find that we are wrong,

we should be grateful to people. If we do nothing wrong, we should let it go.


  1. 心能放下,就能得到內心的解脫自在;業障消除,才能得到身體的解脫自在。

Letting go of attachment brings mental liberation and peace;

elimination of karmic obstruction induces physical liberation and peace.


  1. 一念懺悔的心,是智慧光明的顯現,能破除無始惑業的黑暗。

Repentance is the display of wisdom which can break the darkness of unfounded ignorance and karma.


  1. 有一分恭敬的心,就有一分功德;存一分貢高我慢之念,就會損一分福報。

How respectful we are, how many merits we will have; how arrogant we are, how many blessings we will reduce.


  1. 不斷的修正自己的缺點,是自我成長的唯一方法。

The only way to grow up is to keep correcting our own shortages.


  1. 人生最大的財富就是知足。

Contentment is the most important asset of life.


  1. 要解決動盪不安的社會亂象,必須從導正人心做起。

The solution of social chaos starts from the correcting of human mind.


  1. 話到嘴邊,發覺到不可以說,就把它放在心中,這便是「涵養」。

Keeping in mind the words you find inappropriate to speak is “good demeanor”.


  1. 何謂諸行無常?在這世界上,我們所看到、所接觸到的,


What is impermanence? All phenomena we see, contact, and do are constantly changing.

Nothing is unchanged forever. That is impermanence.
